Homemade pumpkin pie spice blends cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and allspice together for the perfect balance of sweet, spicy and earthy. It's the perfect blend to take pumpkin pie to the next level, but you can use it for so much more! Pumpkin pie spice elevates lattes, cookies, cheesecakes, breads and even savory dishes.
I absolutely love pumpkin pie spice. Even just the smell of it makes me think of fall, pie and Thanksgiving. But, confession time: while I love to eat pumpkin pie, I don't actually like to make pumpkin pie. It's messy and the crust is never crisp enough. My very favorite way to use homemade pumpkin pie spice in a dessert is my pumpkin cheesecake. You get the taste of pumpkin pie but with the creaminess of a cheesecake and a crisp crust. But the uses for pumpkin pie spice blend are truly limitless. It is one of my favorite spice blends.
You can buy pumpkin pie spice at the store, but it's also very easy to make. Most likely you already have the needed spices anyway. As a bonus, then you know exactly what's in it. Companies are famous for adding anti-caking agents and other gross things to spice mixes sold in the store.
