Nothing beats a loaf of fresh crusty bread, especially when it's served with bread dipping oil. Made with olive oil, dried minced garlic and balsamic vinegar, it comes together in just minutes with staple pantry ingredients. Serve it before dinner, with pasta or on a charcuterie board for an easy appetizer everyone will love.

I love good bread. Like truly, truly love it. If I could only eat five foods for the rest of my life, bread would absolutely make the list. So I have plenty of different ways to eat and serve it. My bread dipping seasoning is another favorite that tastes amazing with plain crusty bread. And while this bread dipping oil is great with plain bread, it also pairs beautifully with flavored loaves like rosemary, asiago or tomato parmesan because it complements their flavors and doesn't cover them up.

Substitutions and Variations
- Gluten free - the dipping oil is naturally gluten free. Use gluten free bread to dip as well.
- Vegan - this bread dipping oil is naturally vegan, so no substitutions are needed.
- Dried minced garlic - you can substitute 1-2 cloves of fresh minced garlic for the dried garlic. It will just have a stronger and sharper garlic flavor.
- Olive oil - you can substitute any cooking oil of your choosing, but I would suggest avocado oil if you don't want to use olive oil.
- Balsamic vinegar - I highly recommend balsamic vinegar or even a balsamic glaze, but you could substitute red wine vinegar with a light dusting of sugar for the balsamic vinegar.
Equipment
No special equipment is needed to make this recipe.

Storage
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. Just let it sit at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes before serving.
Next Level Tips
- Flavored balsamic vinegars are super fun and tasty too! Don't be afraid to use rosemary, garlic, lemon or another fun flavor of balsamic vinegar.
- Bread dipping oil really lets the olive oil shine, so I like using a good quality extra virgin olive oil when I have it. If not, regular olive oil still makes a great dipping oil.
- Some balsamic vinegars are very sweet. If you find that your balsamic vinegar is a little too sweet, sprinkle a pinch of salt over the dipping oil. Salt cuts sweetness and enhances flavor at the same time.
- Bread and bread dipping oil are a great addition to a charcuterie board. You can add it as an appetizer alongside the charcuterie board or use them to make the charcuterie board itself bigger. FAQ
Yes, oil and vinegar do not mix. Use the bread to get a bit of the olive oil and the vinegar plus the minced garlic in each bite.
Yes absolutely! Olive oil and balsamic vinegar is a classic salad dressing. And a little garlic can always dress up a savory salad.
It doesn't take long to make this dipping oil, but you can certainly do it ahead of time. You can pre-make it in a little container and then give it a little shake before you pour it out on a plate for dipping.
