Dairy free ranch seasoning mix is an easy way to add creamy ranch style flavor to everything from salads and dips to roasted vegetables and chicken. Since it is made with dried herbs and spices, you can keep a batch in the pantry and mix it up anytime you need it. It comes together in minutes and tastes so much fresher and better than the store bought packets.

Ranch is a classic American flavor. But most store bought ranch seasoning packets are loaded with fillers, stabilizers and flavor enhancers with very few actual herbs or spices. And, I am just not a fan of bottled salad dressings or dips. Like most food, ranch dressing and dip taste so much better when made from scratch. Plus, keeping a batch of homemade ranch seasoning mix on hand makes it incredibly easy to whip up fresh ranch dressing or dip anytime you want. Just whisk with a few fresh ingredients and you're done!

No special equipment is needed for this recipe.
Storage
I store my ranch seasoning mix in glass jars. Spices are best kept in a dark place away from heat and moisture.
Next Level Tips
- I prefer the base ranch seasoning mix be dairy free as it's more versatile, so we skip buttermilk powder in this mix. I think if you want to use buttermilk, it should be in the form of real buttermilk. You can buy real buttermilk at most grocery stores including places where you can buy it cheaper like Trader Joe's and WinCo.
- Ranch is a classic dip for veggies or pizza or a salad dressing for everything from regular green salads to a chicken BLT salad. The mayo fits right in with the BLT theme, so the herbs and spices are just an added bonus. You can also substitute ranch for the dressing in a southwestern Cobb salad or chicken caesar salad sandwich to make an entirely new version.

FAQ
Yes, you can leave out the salt completely or salt to taste in the recipe you are using the ranch seasoning mix for.
Dill seems to be particularly polarizing. People either love it or hate it. You can leave out any herb that you don't like. Or, you can also cut down on the amount of a particular spice. I recommend using a little dill though.
You can use fresh herbs when you are making ranch dressing or dip, but not for a dried seasoning mix that's meant to be stored in a cabinet.
